World's Largest Teapot, Chester, West Virginia
In 1938, William “Babe” Devon purchased a gigantic wooden hogshead barrel that was part of a Hire’s Root Beer advertising campaign in Pennsylvania. He shipped it to Chester where it was covered in tin to form a teapot shape, along with adding a spout, a handle, and a large glass ball to make the knob of the “lid.” Devon used it as a concession and souvenir stand. It's 14 feet In diameter and approximately 14 feet high. In the late 1980s, funds were raised to restore the teapot.
