Photo dated Jan. 3, 1944. Slogan: Striving to Please." The Modern Laundry was founded in 1895 by Ernest Roden. In the early days, customer laundry was sent by train to Cincinnati, Ohio for cleaning off-site, before returning to customers via their Maysville storefront. Shortly after the turn of the 20th century, the Modern Laundry expanded its space to offer on-site wash and dry-cleaning facilities.
