World War II Veterans
Gravestone of WW II Veteran, Iowa County, Wisconsin
First Lieutenant Enos David "Bud" Lloyd-Jones, Son of Ralph & Helen Lloyd-Jones, born June 5, 1920, killed in action near Metz, France, Sept. 13, 1944, buried in the U.S. Cemetery, St. Avold, France. In July 1944, Bud’s unit landed in Normandy and battled its way through northern France, liberating numerous cities and villages from Nazi control. But Metz proved to be too much of a challenge. First Lieutenant Lloyd-Jones was killed instantly by a land mine—which saved the lives of the men he was leading. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He left behind a wife and new-born son. This gravestone and plaque is located at the Lloyd Jones Family Cemetery at Unity Chapel, Spring Green, Wisconsin.
